Win an Autographed Copy of Ray Chen’s New Album and 2 Tickets to His CD Release Concert

It’s not every day that LPR gets to welcome a young talent like violinist Ray Chen. The BBC, talking about his debut album Virtuoso, said “It’s violin playing of the highest order. It’s not just Ray Chen’s superb technique, but his sense of pacing in the music that is so striking: there’s always time for the music to unfold, even at speed.” On February 7th we’re happy to present Ray Chen who will be performing a program that includes works by Bach, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Saint Saëns.

To celebrate this concert we’re going to give away an autographed copy of his new album Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn, violin concertos as well as a pair of tickets to the concert. How do you win? Tell us why you’re excited to see this show in the comments section below, or you can send us your reason via Twitter. We’ll pick a winner on Monday. While you wait for us to pick a winner take a listen to Chen performing some Brahms below.

Would love to hear Ray Chen in person

I haven’t seen Ray Chen yet, but the press comment emphasizes his athleticism and virtuosity (“Ray Chan can do anything with a violin.”) I am bringing a very athletic, but not particularly musical, friend to LPR Tuesday because I thought he will be able to relate to the sheer physical achievement of Chen’s playing.

There are a g’zillion hot, young phenoms out there, good violinists, but Chen has that something, that SOUL to his sound that makes me, a veteran professional violist, want to hear More! Go Ray! :->
