Lisa Dierbeck

Lisa Dierbeck is the author of the novels The Autobiography of Jenny X, an O, the Oprah Magazine book of the month and Vanity Fair Hot Type selection, and One Pill Makes You Smaller, a New York Times Notable Book. Twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, Dierbeck’s work has been anthologized in such volumes as O’s Guide to Life: the Best of O the Oprah Magazine and Heavy Rotation: 20 Writers on the Albums that Changed Their Lives. Dierbeck co-founded the Mischief+Mayhem writers’ collective in association with OR Books. Launched on a shoestring, the independent venture is a response to growing commercial pressures in the publishing industry. Programs include “Transmissions: a Symposium on the Literature of AIDS,” co-organized with The New School Creative Writing Graduate Program and “Unprintable,” a monthly reading series at Le Poisson Rouge. Dierbeck has contributed to The Boston Globe, Glamour, The New York Times Book Review, The New York Observer, O, the Oprah Magazine, Time Out New York and others. Her work as a writer and alternative digital-age publisher has been covered in such local, national and international outlets as: El Globo, The Believer, Craine’s, The Financial Times, The Huffington Post, The Los Angeles Times, New York, The New York Times Book Review, The New York Times, The New York Observer, Newsday, O, the Oprah Magazine,Vanity Fair and WNYC radio.

Elizabeth England

Elizabeth England, A recipient of a 1998 New York Foundation of the Arts Fiction Fellowship, Elizabeth’s stories have appeared in the Nebraska Review, North Atlantic Review, Berkshire Review and the Connecticut Review. In 2007 she won Ohio State University’s The Journal’s short story contest; in 2001 she won Inkwell Magazine’s short fiction competition and was nominated for a Pushcart. Elizabeth’s is finishing her novel, Getting to Know William Langley. She lives with her husband and two children in New York City.

Sherine Gilmour

Sherine Gilmour’s poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Green Mountains Review, Isotope, JMWW, Many Mountains Moving, Paterson Literary Review, River Styx, So to Speak, and other journals. Two of her poems were nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She received her MFA from New York University. Presently she works as a freelance writer, a teacher with the Writers Studio, and runs a small private practice as a Gestalt therapist in Brooklyn.

JJ Penna

JJ Penna is a musician and writer, and serves as a faculty member for The Juilliard School. He received his MFA in Poetry from Warren Wilson College and has been a Fellow at The Macdowell Colony, The Atlantic Center for the Arts, The Ragdale Foundation, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. His work has appeared in The Florida Review, Nimrod, Brilliant Corners and other publications. He is a frequent lecturer on the interrelationship of song and poetry, and is at work on a novel.

Joel Hinman

Joel Hinman’s short fiction has appeared in Epiphany Magazine, The Brooklyn Review and Fiction Now. He is a consulting editor at Epiphany and teaches at The Writers Studio. This year he was nominated for a Pushcart. He lives in New York with his wife and son and is at work on a novel and collection of short stories.
