As part of its 5th anniversary celebration, Le Poisson Rouge presents an in-the-round performance of Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” on the occasion of its centennial year, in a rarely performed arrangement for four pianos and percussion. Pianos provided by Steinway and Sons. Rehearsal space generously provided by the 92nd street Y and Kean University. Presented in conjunction with SONOS Chamber Orchestra (www.sonoschamberorch.org).

A standing room area is available by the bar for all guests who purchase “Standing Room” tickets. Food and beverage can be purchased at the bar but there is no minimum purchase required in this area.

Erik E. Ochsner (conductor)

Erik E. Ochsner, Music Director, SONOS Chamber Orchestra: Of American and Finnish descent and a graduate of Dartmouth College, conductor Erik Ochsner attended The Pierre Monteux School for Conductors where he studied under Charles Bruck. He studied with the Baroque specialist Helmuth Rilling and was a student and assistant of Robert Spano. As Assistant Conductor of the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, Mr. Ochsner hosted and conducted educational concerts of Così fan tutte for 8,000 Brooklyn children. In March of 2012, Mr. Ochsner made his widely acclaimed debut with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in performances of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Further engagements include performances in Melbourne, Milwaukee, Nürnberg, Ottawa, Reykjavik, Rochester, Stuttgart, Sydney and Toronto.

Jenny Lin is one of the most respected young pianists today, admired for her adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence. Her ability to combine classical and contemporary repertoire has brought her to the attention of international critics and audiences. The New York Times praised her “remarkable technical command” and “gift for melodic flow.” The Washington Post extolled “Lin’s confident fingers” and “spectacular technique,” while Gramophone has hailed her as “an exceptionally sensitive pianist.” Martha Argerich declared: “Miss Jenny Lin is a very gifted young musician and a brilliant pianist.”

She has immersed herself in both classical (1) and contemporary (2) repertoire, she pursued degrees in Religion (1) and Piano Performance (2) in her undergraduate work, and she as emerged as a superb half of DUO, an ensemble she co-created with pianist Saar Ahuvia in 2002.

Energetically committed to the music of our time, pianist Stephen Gosling is a member of the New York New Music Ensemble, Ensemble Sospeso, Columbia Sinfonietta, and Ne(x)tworks. Jared Soldiviero, Matt Smallcomb, percussion

Jared Soldiviero: Percussionist and drummer Jared Soldiviero enjoys a multi-faceted career in his hometown of New York City while performing with Ensemble ACJW, Newband, Argento, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, ICE and Alarm Will Sound. As an orchestral musician, he is Principal Timpanist at Crested Butte Music Festival in Colorado and has performed with the American Ballet Theater and New York Philharmonic. He holds B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Juilliard School.

Matt Smallcomb: Matt Smallcomb performs in a wide variety of genres including orchestral music, chamber music, jazz, pop and theatre. As an orchestral percussionist Matt has performed with the Seattle Symphony, Vermont Symphony, New World Symphony, and the American Composers Orchestra. Chamber performances include appearances with Alarm Will Sound, The Philadelphia Virtuosi and the New York Percussion Group. He is currently performing with the Jesse Lynch Trio, an experimental piano trio based in Brooklyn. Mr. Smallcomb holds a M.M. from the Mannes College of Music.
