People Under The Stairs

Los Angeles based People Under The Stairs, Double K (Michael Turner) and Thes One (Christopher Portugal) are the most successful fully independent hip-hop duo in the history of Hip-Hop. Since their initial full length release in 1998, People Under The Stairs have performed more than a thousand sold out shows, festivals and world tours spanning 6 continents and 40 countries.

With a pioneering DIY ethic, “The P” as they are referred to by their fans, have self-managed, produced and engineered 7 full-length albums and countless singles and side projects. The musical sensibility punctuating their unique brand of hip-hop has not only earned them the title “The Steely Dan of Rap Music” but consistent critical acclaim and numerous appearances on the Billboard Charts. Their illustrious career includes an appearance on The Simpson’s 20th Anniversary Special, a John Peele Session at Abbey Road, and groundbreaking performances at key festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella and Bonaroo, the last of which was noted by SPIN magazine as “Simply the best performance of Friday… Period”.

‘The 12 Step Program’ is People Under The Stairs highly anticipated 9th studio album, out May 6th on the group’s own imprint Piecelock70.

Mr. Mutherfu*in’ eXquire

Based out of Brooklyn, New York, eXquire has a style that mixes grime and intellectual irreverence in equal parts – evoking the salad days of mid-90’s New York sound and its stars, while keeping a keen eye on progressing the culture that defined the city’s identity. Since posting his $400 video for “Huzzah” the lead single of 2011’s breakout mixtape Lost in Translation, a scathing chronicle of the life of a modern NY anti-hero, has raised more than a few eyebrows with his one-of-a-kind voice, uncanny songwriting ability, and the dominating presence and precision of his king-making live shows. Possessing the courage to ignore the industry’s narrow-minded conceptions of what a rapper should be, eXquire is ready to take what nobody will give him. eX appeared on many yearend lists including Pitchfork’s Top 100 Tracks of 2011 and Top Music Videos of 2011.

In 2012, eXquire released his EP, Power & Passion with Republic Records – featuring production from El-P and Harry Fraud and followed with June’s acclaimed project, Kismet, featuring Danny Brown, The Alchemist, and Chance The Rapper. His constantly reinvented sound has lead to the eager anticipation of his major label debut LP – slated for a summer 2014 release – that insiders are already calling it the truly uncompromising ode to the reality of Brooklyn and New York as it is today.

Fresh Daily

Beats, rhymes and life define the personal style of Brooklyn native Fresh Daily, a rising lyricist who is taking an impressive multifaceted approach to Hip Hop. As an emcee and graphic designer, this artist’s persona and prowess make it hard to disagree with his emcee name. Of his rap moniker he says:

“Fresh Daily just fits me right, I stay Fresh all day, every day, with the rhymes and the style but more importantly, it’s all about being consistantly innovative”.

After releasing notable and highly regarded mixtape “Tomorrow is Today” to critical online acclaim, HighWater Music released Fresh Daily’s debut album, “Fresh Daily is the Gorgeous Killer in Crimes of Passion” (’09) featuring production by Illmind, Oh No, 88 Keys, Dj Spinna, Exile & more. It featured guest appearances from Tanya Morgan, Homeboy Sandman and more.

Following up with another online project, the space-y synth, boom-bap driven “Mothership/L A N D” which successfully discussed culture and relationships while channelling Sun-Ra and Afrika Bambattaa in it’s aesthetic to more critical acclaim.Fresh Daily designed 2 shirts and a cap to accompany “Mothership/L A N D” in collaboration with clothing lines Paid Bless and Sacred Stitch.

Currently working on both a new album and several art/design/collabo projects, Fresh is keeping himself busy and relevant as both a musician and visual/graphic artist.

“I’m greatful to be doing what I love and creating.” Fresh Daily

Whatever you stumble across regarding this artist, whether it be visual, audio or mixed media expect it to be FRESH, daily.
