Ernie Brooks

Ernie Brooks is a real punk pioneer. You may recognize his bass playing from the Modern Lovers, one of the great proto-punk albums of all-time released in 1976. This is just one highlight in Ernie’s career… he has performed with some of the real music legends — Jerry Harrison, New York Dolls… even Allen Ginsberg. He has also performed or recorded with John Sherman, Ed Tomney, Randy Gunn, Jesse Chamberlain and English guitar legend Chris Spedding.

Arthur Russell and Elliott Murphy nurtured Ernie’s songwriting skills (separately) and their influence remains intact today, after a dozen records and countless tours. Apparantly, his limits are boundaryless — recording and performing with David Johansen, Peter Gordon’s “Love of Life Orchestra” and minimalist composer Rhys Chatham’s ensemble, which later expanded to a 100 guitar orchestra.

Ernie regrouped with Jerry Harrison in the eighties for his Casual Gods albums, touring with Chris Spedding, Bernie Worrell and Joyce Bowden. He then moved to France where he worked with Elliott Rhys, Tony Truant and free-jazz grunge guitarist Jean Francoid Pauvros.

He currently lives in New York and often performs with Gods and Monsters and various formations with trombone wizard Peter Zummo.

Jason Candler

Musician, Composer, and Performer with New York based 25-piece brass band Hungry March Band, free jazz collective Earth People, and Gary Lucas’ Gods & Monsters. 2006 Just Plain Folks Award for Best Instrumental Jazz Performance for his song “Jupanese Ju Ju” by the Hungry March Band

Recording and Mastering Engineer on numerous music albums. Artists include Gary Lucas (Captain Beefheart, Jeff Buckley), Microscopic Septet, Eric Andersen, Elliot Sharp, Phillip Johnston, Hilton Ruiz, Lonnie Plaxico, Jimmy Lyons, Chico Freeman, & David Chesky.

Kaki King

a shockingly gifted, stunningly complex performer who’s just slightly out of place in too simple a setting.”LA Times

Watching Kaki King perform is like seeing guitar-playing for the first time… The effect is of sculpting rather than of playing music.”NY Mag

“bare, powerful, and propulsive.”KUTX Austin

Hailed by Rolling Stone as “a genre unto herself,” Brooklyn-based composer and guitarist Kaki King has released 8 albums over the past 13 years. She has performed on every continent over the course of multiple world tours, and has presented her work in a variety of prestigious arts centers, including the Kennedy Center, MoMA, LACMA and The Met. She has created music for numerous film and TV soundtracks, including “August Rush” and Sean Penn’s “Into the Wild”, for which received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score.

Her most recent work until now, “The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body,” is Kaki at her visionary best: deconstructing and redefining the role of solo instrumental artist though virtuoso technique, insatiable imagination, and boundless humanity. This groundbreaking new multi-media performance uses projection mapping to present the guitar as an ontological tabula rasa in a creation myth unlike any other, where luminous visions of genesis and death, textures and skins, are cast onto her signature Ovation Adamas guitar which has been customized specifically for this production.

Mor Mendel

Felice Rosser

Felice Rosser is a New York based singer and bassist. She is the leader of the band Faith.

Jann Klose

Jann Klose (pronounced Yann Close) is a pop singer-songwriter. Born in Germany and raised in Kenya, South Africa, and northeast Ohio, he has released four albums and two EPs as a solo artist. His voice is featured in the movie Greetings from Tim Buckley, starring Penn Badgley and Imogen Poots, released by Focus Features and Tribeca Film. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jann talks about guitarist and collaborator Gary Lucas recommending him to director Dan Algrant to sing in the movie.

His songs have been heard on the Grammy-nominated “Healthy Food For Thought” compilation as well as MTV Cribs and the movie “Dead Broke” (Warner Bros) featuring Paul Sorvino. He has performed as an actor and singer in touring companies of Broadway musicals, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Jekyll & Hyde, and The Who’s Tommy. In 2005, the off-Broadway production Moonlight Interior, a musical based on Klose’s music, premiered in New York City.

Mike Edison

Mike Edison is the former publisher of marijuana magazine High Times, and was the editor-in-chief of the irresponsibly outrageous Screw. Edison has worked as a correspondent for Penthouse and Hustler, and is an internationally known musician and professional wrestler of no small repute. He is the author of 28 pornographic novels and the cult classic memoir I Have Fun Everywhere I Go (Farrar, Straus & Giroux). He speaks frequently on free speech, sex, drugs, and the American counterculture, and is “proof positive that one can be both edgy and erudite, lowbrow and literate, and take joy in the unbridled pleasures of the id without sacrificing the higher mind.” (PopMatters.com) His new book, Dirty! Dirty! Dirty! will be published this Fall by Soft Skull Press.

Edison is also well known for his eclectic music career, and as a ferociously dedicated spoken word artist. He is the long-time drummer of garage-cult heroes the Raunch Hands and played frequently with notorious wildman GG Allin, with whom he wrote a number of songs including the cult hit “Swank Fucking,” and recorded two records. Since 2001 Edison has fronted his gospel, punk, and blues experiment the Edison Rocket Train, and has collaborated frequently with avant roots-rocker Jon Spencer, who produced Edison’s X-rated, psychedelic companion CD to the book I Have Fun Everywhere I Go. Spencer has also been the featured guitarist in Edison’s various groups of “21st century beatniks and new world troubadors,” the main vehicles for his outrageous revue of spoken-word, storytelling, and dirty blues that have taken various names, seemingly depending only on the whims of their leader, including the “Space Liberation Army,” the “Interstellar Rendevous Band,” “The Rocket Train Delta Science Micro Arkestra,” and more. Edison has also recently been seen terrorizing audiences with his aggressive Theremin explorations in ex-Capt Beefheart guitarist Gary Lucas’ downtown supergroup Gods and Monsters. Edison’s weekly Internet radio program, The Mike and Judy Show (co-hosted by author Judy McGuire) can be heard live on Sunday afternoons on the Heritage Radio Network, or downloaded for free as podcasts from iTunes.
