Jaime Manrique is the author of, among other books: Scarecrows, Latin Moon in Manhattan, My Night With Federico García Lorca, Sor Juana’s Love Poems, Eminent Maricones, and, most recently, Cervantes Street, an historical novel about the writer of Don Quixote as well as the mysterious “Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda” who wrote the spurious sequel to Cervantes’ masterpiece. The book that has received praise from Junot Díaz (“Manrique is fantastically talented and this is perhaps his masterpiece” and Edith Grossman (“Manrique’s rendering of the life of Cervantes is brilliant”).
