Anna Netrebko opened the Met’s 2013–14 season as Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, becoming the first soprano in the company’s 130-year history to star in three consecutive opening night performances. This January, she reprises her star turn as Adina in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, in the acclaimed 2012 production. She opened the 2011–12 season with her company role debut as the title character in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena. Since her Met debut as Natasha Rostova in the 2002 company premiere of Prokofiev’s War and Peace, conducted by Valery Gergiev, she has appeared in a total of 15 roles, including the title heroines of Massenet’s Manon and Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, both Mimì and Musetta in La Bohème, Gilda in Rigoletto, Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Norina in Don Pasquale, and Elvira in I Puritani.
