Lil Buck (Charles Riley) is a leader of a style of dance known as jookin’, which originated in Memphis, Tennessee. He gained mass acclaim for his YouTube collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma in “the Swan,” which went viral online in early 2011. Lil Buck was the artist in residence at the 2011 Vail International Dance Festival, and performed with cellist Yo-Yo Ma in the United States and in China at the U.S.-China Forum on the Arts and Culture, and he appeared at the 2011 Fall for Dance Festival in New York City. Lil Buck was featured in the music video for the song “Tightrope” by Janelle Monae, and appeared with Madonna in her 2012 Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show and on her 2012 MDNA Tour. Lil Buck will be appearing on The Colbert Report on February 21, 2013.
