Sunday, August 14th 2011 at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City will see the undisputed Godfather of Noise Rahzel (the Roots) and Rakaa (DilatedPeoples) headlining the post-championship concert of the 2nd American Beatbox Championships. America’s top 16 beatboxers will battle it out live in an “8 mile style” beat down for the crown of America’s Best Beatboxer. Beatboxing’s finest will go mic to mic as Hasan Salaam and Eternia MC the evening with DJ Boo holding down the Red Bull decks alongside Colin Dean’s Roots & Grooves.
The American Beatbox Championships returns with even more eclectic powerhouse performances asKenny Muhammad “The Human Orchestra”, Swiss Chris, and recent Drama Desk winner and WBA co-founder Chesney Snow w/ the Stone Forest Ensemble, and Alyson Greenfield lace the evening. Emmy-Nominated composer DJ Johnny Juice of Public Enemy will join the judges’ panel this year with Kenny Muhammad, Rahzel, and Swiss Chris for what is sure to be an epic evening of beat battling with more special guests sure to be announced. The American Beatbox Championships will also premiere Graphic Vocals an exhibition featuring visual artist with Crystal Clarity (http://artthirsty.com/home.html) and Joshua Benson (http://www.joshuabenson.com/). Graphic Vocals showcases the work of an extraordinary visual artists voices.

The American Beatbox Championships is the premiere beatboxing event in the United States. Now in its second year the ABC aims to continue to highlight and carry the torch of the tradition of one of the most awe inspiring vocal art forms. Competitors and enthusiasts travel across the country to New York City to participate in workshops, panel discussions, an open mic series, film screenings, featured showcases, and of course one of the most innovative vocal battles on the planet.
The American Beatbox Championships is not your ordinary Hip Hop style battle. The competition features 3 rounds unique rounds that test the artists creativity, musicianship, originality, imagination, and performance skills. Unlike any other beatboxing battle on the planet it pushes the competitors to the limits culminating in a microphone vs. microphone “8 mile” style battle grand finale.
