Beats and Breaks is the new monthly party of Greenways8, spinning old school hip hop, trip-hop, funk, electronic, mashups, and of course beats and breaks. Expect to hear original mashups and unheard remixes of classics old and new, delivering a music experience perfectly suited for the intimate LPR gallery space.

As a DJ, greenways8 delivers the tastiest of tasties from his arsenal of beats, breaks, grooves, and samples, fusing the popular with the obscure and using his keen musical instincts and insights to gauge the crowd and hit on just the right mood, whether it be ambient trip-hop, dance it up hot, or somewhere more eclectic.

As a musician, greenways8 employs various electronic methods as well as pure instrumentation, often fusing the two during live performances by hooking up a bass, midi, drum pads, or guitar to his mixing board. greenways8 tracks have appeared in multiple film projects, and his debut album the “Everywhere and Nowhere EP” was released by Style & Leisure records in May of 2010.

In addition to a monthly residency at Le Poisson Rouge, greenways8 has performed at various lounges, clubs, and art and performance spaces in NYC and beyond. greenways8 (Eric Menzie) currently resides in Chinatown NYC.

Greg Heffernan also known as Cosmo D is a versatile cellist who's background in classical music, jazz, film scoring, studio work, and the global music melting-pot of NYC have shaped his musical identity. His explorations in organically merging improvisation and electronic music production are his continued focus. Under the “Cosmo D” alias, Greg performs, solo or in group, merging his use of live laptop manipulation with cello improvisation. Some of the groups Greg currently tours with are Ravish Momin's Trio Tarana, Matt Darriau's Paradox Trio and sitarist Neel Murgai's quartet.

Greg's diverse musical background has led him to collaborate and tour with an amazing array of artists over the years, including legendary saxophonist Lee Konitz, Vijay Iyer, Alice Coltrane, Ravi Coltrane, Natalie Merchant, Matt Darriau, Fred Hersch, Bill Frisell and many others. His cello playing was featured on a recent ad for Stella Artois, which aired nationwide in the winter of 2009-2010. Greg studied at NYU under Marion Feldman, but it was his early lessons with Erik Friedlander that set him on this path of improvisation, musical openness and collaborative possibility. Greg currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.

Sex in Space is a project exploring the intersection between sex and space. Created by Peter Borenstein, Sex in Space seeks to answer the fundamental question: How do we musically interpret outer-spatial copulation? The answer: A lot of bass, echo and delay combined with a freaky samba and a funky break!
