Experience an evening of transformations, revelations and jollifications with one of New York City’s hottest chamber orchestras and internationally acclaimed artist Justin Bischof. A rare pairing in concert of two 20th Century musical masterpieces and the chance to hear a master improsiver on the piano.

Justin Bischof, conductor and pianist
Canadian-Swiss Justin Bischof is one of the most eclectic artists of his generation. Justin Bischof is an internationally acclaimed concert organist, pianist and improviser. He won the First Prize at the 2000 AGO National Improvisation Competition in Seattle and is regarded as one of today’s finest improvisers. He has toured widely throughout the world, frequently as soloist with orchestra. He has rapidly made a name for himself as a conductor in operatic and orchestral circles around the world. As a conductor, past seasons have seen him work with the National Arts Center Orchestra, The Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Vancouver Symphony, State Philharmonic Kavkazskiye and the Canadian Chamber Orchestra of NYC CCO/NYC.

The Canadian Chamber Orchestra of New York City CCO/NYC
The Canadian Chamber Orchestra of New York City CCO/NYC is the first large ensemble in New York City created by and showcasing Canadian musicians / music as part of its mission. Comprised of many young Canadian players living in the New York City area, the goal is to promote Canadian artistry in New York City and beyond. The inaugural performance of the CCO/NYC took place at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall on March 25th, 2007, as part of the Opera Trash Benefit for Variety NYC. They made their Le Poisson Rouge debut in June 2007 with internationally acclaimed Canadian mezzo Ariana Chris. CCO/NYC has been the resident orchestra at The Church of St. James the Less in Scarsdale since May 2007. They have presented 5 concerts as well as serving as the ensemble for Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday services. This is their 2nd concert at LPR. The future includes several recording project and serving as the host organization for the Canadian Arts in NYC Festival scheduled for Fall of 2011.
