JOKERS OF THE SCENE
"It began...in Canada..."
Jokers Of The Scene's recent remixes for the likes of Mika, Acid Girls and Burns have been making waves in forward-thinking DJ sets and charts alike. But it's their original tune "Baggy Bottom Boys" that has become a signature anthem - an enormous dance track that's as moody as it is ecstatic. It's a perfect introduction to JOTS, whose sound continues to mutate from straight-up club bangers into a deeper, darker strain of electronic dance music that's completely original and exciting.
The "BBB" video captures all these contrasts and complexities in glorious, stroboscopic black & white, filmed at two particularly wild JOTS shows in Boston and Ottawa by Julian Wadsworth (aka Red Foxxworth) and chopped up with glee by LA-based video vanguard Demonbabies.
To go along with the clip, Fool's Gold is releasing a digital "Baggy Bottom Boys" remix EP, featuring brand new mixes by High Contrast, DZ, Rob Threezy and JOTS themselves - and a "pianopella" for the mixers! Grab this and all the other JOTS releases and remixes on Fool's Gold, available at iTunes, Beatport, and wherever else fine music is sold.
Be sure to catch the Jokers on tour around the globe: debuting new tracks, destroying dancefloors, and exploding minds!

Nick Catchdubs (Fool's Gold)
Nick Catchdubs lives in Brooklyn, eats Spaghetti-O's, and plays dance music.
Over the past five years, Nick has rocked spots around the globe armed with unassuming charm and a signature mix of hip-hop, electro, dancehall, rock and more, with an emphasis on new music. In the process, he's made a name for himself as a top-notch party DJ and one of the most diverse and enthusiastic selectors in todays scene, equally at home opening sold-out shows for the likes of the Clipse, MIA and Rihanna, banging it out between indie bands at Lollapalooza and SXSW, or raving past dawn with Sinden and other new-school club wizards.
Nick's expertly-sequenced mixtapes have the Chicago Reader calling him “tastemaking royalty who can break an act single-handedly,” while his blends, remixes, and re-edits get spun everywhere from blog radio to commercial stations like Power 106 in Los Angeles. He has a grip of original productions and official remixes on deck, and still finds time to make major moves with Fool's Gold, the trendsetting record label he co-founded with A-Trak that's been responsible for introducing new talent like Kid Sister to the world at large.
Yet even as the achievements and accolades stack up, Nick can't stop looking forward to the next party, the newest tunes, and the good times still to come. Hey, it's worked so far...

Star Eyes (Trouble & Bass)
Brooklyn femme fatale Star Eyes is known for throwing down raw, dirty underground bass tracks, from grime bangers to ghetto house, Miami bass classics to speaker-rattling dubstep stormers. This 15-year veteran of the decks was one of first female drum & bass DJs in the US, and a member of the B.A.S.S. Crew, Eklektic, and genre-bending DJ duo Syrup Girls (once called “New York’s best-kept secret” by New Yorker music critic Sasha Frere-Jones). She has played all over the world, from the Vans Warped Tour to South Africa, from London’s famed Fabric nightclub to Berlin squat parties.
Since 2006, Star Eyes has been a founding member of the world famous Trouble & Bass crew. In June, Trouble & Bass released her first EP, Disappear, featuring original vocals, songwriting, and a heady mix of goth and rave influences whipped into a style she calls “haunted house.” She is currently writing songs for her next EP, working on remixes, and traveling the world with her hard-hitting DJ sets. Her vocals also appear on tracks by John B (Beta) and Passions (Kitsuné).
