Don Byron and Lisa Moore will perform a special concert to celebrate the release of “SEVEN”, Lisa Moore's stellar recording of Byron's piano music, which includes the recent finalist work for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Composition, "Seven Etudes for Piano." Winner of the Samuel Barber Rome Prize for Composition, clarinetist/saxophonist Don Byron returns from his current residency in the Italian capitol to perform with his quartet on a double bill with pianist Lisa Moore at (Le) Poisson Rouge on January 3, 2010, at 7:00pm.

Orange Mountain Music is a new record company created to serve the fans, aficionados and academics studying the music of Philip Glass. The idea for this label developed out of a project undertaken by Kurt Munkacsi, (producer of most of PG's recordings and head of Euphorbia productions) and Don Christensen to archive all the master recordings that Philip Glass has made. Over the last 30 some years Philip has produced hundreds of hours of recordings in the process of creating operas, film scores, musical theatre pieces and records. Glass has also recorded many performances of his solo, operatic, orchestral and small ensemble work. In the process of archiving all of these master recordings we have discovered a wealth of beautiful and unusual recordings and some very inspired performances which we plan to bring to the public. We also plan to bring recordings by other artists that have collaborated with or have been associated with Philip Glass.

In her starring roles in Wicked, Hairspray and the off-Broadway revival Godspell, Shoshana proved herself a force of nature. In “Shoshana Sings Streisand” audiences will enjoy many Streisand classics alongside Shoshana’s original music from her debut album, Superhero as she seamlessly blends the classic with the contemporary.

Hot off the release of their first self-produced album of songs “Words R Words”, their second recording, “After the Factory Closes” features The Mike Block Band on instrumental compositions and virtuosic improvisational skills. The evening will feature a live performance by the MBB from “After the Factory Closes” as well as from the album “Words R Words.”

The Mike Block Band presents exciting and genre-bending combinations of rock, classical, jazz, and many types of folk music through original songs, improvisational tunes, and fully written-out compositions by cellist and singer, Mike Block. The MBB also features Kyle Sanna on Acoustic/Electric Guitar, Mat Fieldes on Acoustic/Electric Bass, and Damien Bassman on Drums/Percussion.

New York-based Grammy nominated Jazz artists, Groove Collective are putting together an impromptu benefit concert for Haiti this Tuesday the 19th. Le Poisson Rouge has donated their venue for the event. DJ Logic, Bernie Worrell and Dr. Lonnie Smith Trio will perform and will feature various other special guests TBA. All artists, production, promotion and venue are volunteering their services for the effort. Those wishing to donate to the concert fundraising effort who cannot attend or who wish to donate more than the suggested ticket price may do so here here.

Founded in the Summer of 2009, and without a doubt one of the best underground parties in the heart of gotham, Wax Poetics magazine, Halcyon, Raw Fusion, Great Weekend, and Fusicology, present this monthly all-vinyl oasis, featuring a dream team of resident romantics. Sharing deck duties are (six!) resident djs Amir (bbe), one half of the internationally known rare-record collector and mixtape duo, Kon & Amir; prolific beatsmith Ge-Ology (Female Fun), boasting remix credits from Pete Rock to PPP; The Twilite Tone (Great Weekend), both a key player in the seminal 90's Chicago house scene, and long-time producer and dj for Common; New York veterans OP! and Scribe (Raw Fusion NYC), and Jon Oliver (EVR), the baby of the bunch. The sounds are mind-wide, foot-friendly, and snap crackle popping. Anything is fair game, but you can expect to hear some soul, disco, dilla, boogie, hustle, hip-hop, old-school house, no wave, new jack swing, dancefloor jazz, bossa nova, salsa, funk, electro, and afrobeat. No pretentious bullshit, no dress code (not that you shouldn't come sexy as hell), no commercial radio crap, and no laptops allowed.

You’ll be shocked by some of the hilarious encounters that these former waiters, bartenders, retail workers, and baristas have dealt with on a regular basis.

Penny Arcade redefines the book party to celebrate the publication of her first book BAD REPUTATION with a Penny Arcade style atmospheric extravaganza gala of erotic dancers,and performances. Arcade will be joined by friends and collaborators at (Le) Poisson Rouge, the site of the old Village Gate Theater where she ran "Bitch!Dyke!Faghag!Whore!" for a year in the early 1990's. To this day, if you look up at the corner of Bleeker and Thompson Streets, you'll see the landmarked sign for The Village Gate proclaiming "Penny Arcade: Sex, Politics, Reality!" The evening will featuring readings from the scripts featured in the book, personal reflections on Arcade and her work and surprise performancesin the erotic life affirming atmosphere that has made Penny Arcade a performance legend all over the world! The evening includes confirmed appearances by Debbie Harry, Sarah Schulman, Dirty Martini Jennifer Bell – and the erotic dancers who have been the signature element of her work for 20 years! and, of course, the inimitable Penny Arcade herself.

A runaway at thirteen, a reform-school graduate at sixteen, a performer in the legendary New York City Playhouse of the Ridiculous at seventeen, and an escapee from Andy Warhol's Factory scene at nineteen, Penny Arcade (born Susanna Ventura) emerged in the 1980s as a primal force on the New York art scene and an originator of what came to be called performance art. Arcade's brand of high camp and street-smart, punk-rock cabaret showmanship has been winning over international audiences ever since. "Bad Reputation" is the first book by and on Penny Arcade. The complete scripts from "La Miseria," "Bitch!Dyke!Faghag!Whore!" and "Bad Reputation" are accompanied by a new interview with Penny Arcade by Chris Kraus, a range of archival photographs of the East Village scene and Arcade's performances, an introduction by playwright Ken Bernard, and contributions by Sarah Schulman, Steve Zehentner, and Stephen Bottoms.

Since 2008, PRISM Quartet has released no fewer than five recordings, encompassing an astonishing range of musical styles, from Middle Eastern laments to progressive rock to Highland bagpipes to Chinese folk music. To celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary, PRISM performs a CD release concert featuring music from each of the five albums, including compositions by Steven Mackey, Roshanne Etezady, Jacob TV, Lei Liang, and William Albright.
